Intel quietly released the new Desktop CPU with 16 cores as it was not on the official marketing pages for the launch of Raptor Lake Refresh at CES 2024. However, it is listed on Intel's website. But there's a good reason for that, the i7-14790F is only available in China and won't be hitting the global market.

Intel introduced three variants of the Core i5 1xx90F processor, but the i7 version only made its debut alongside the first Raptor Lake CPUs in the 13th Gen Core update. It is currently being updated for the Gen 14. This i7- 14790F SKU maintains a configuration of 16 cores (8 P cores + 8 E cores) and 24 threads. Intel Core 1xx90F Variants:

Core i5-12490F (6C/12T @ 4.6 GHz) ➡️ 13490F (10C/16T @ 4.8 GHz) ➡️ 14490F (10C/16T @ 4.9 GHz)

Core i7-13790F (16C/24T @ 5,2 GHz) ➡️ 14790F (16C/24T @ 5,4 GHz)

The notable change is in the CPU clock speed, which now peaks at 5.4 GHz. The base clock for the P-Core is unchanged, while there is a slight increase to the maximum clock for the Ecore, which now reaches 4.2 GHz, up from 4.1 GHz. The update is small but seems important enough for Intel to introduce a new product.

Core 1xx90F models have become popular in integrated systems in China. Typically, these SKUs have higher clocks or caches thanks to the use of a different silicon die. In the case of the i7-14790F, it appears to share the same die as the 14700F. One major similarity between both CPUs is the lack of integrated graphics support.
